Previously, I had posed for Ruth's illustrations as the cook in her Sleeping Beauty, as the old fairy woman in Twelve Dancing Princesses, and in the dual role of Mrs. Sowerby and Mrs. Medlock in her version of The Secret Garden. Always in the summer and always sweating.
